In a tragic ATV accident, a father just may be responsible for the death of his son. Two-year-old Jackson Moore was riding on an all-terrain vehicle that his father, Nicholas Moore, 29, was driving through a wooded area in Missouri this past weekend. The boy was in his father’s lap and the vehicle was traveling at a speed slow enough for another relative to walk beside the ATV. The father, while driving, looked at his cell phone to read a text message, at which time his son hit the throttle propelling the ATV into a tree and forcing the father off the vehicle. The child was not wearing a helmet. The relative, a paramedic, performed CPR, but the boy was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

When questioned by police, the father told them the 2-year-old had fired a .22 caliber rifle earlier that day. But the father insists he was careful with the gun and the ATV.
